Your third graders read a short November passage with numbered paragraphs, find the sentence that proves their answer, and write all five R.A.C.E.S. steps: restate, answer, cite, explain, and sum it up. Level A gives a starter on every step and a hint about where to look; Level C writes a full paragraph on a harder Go Deeper question.

Every passage is written for third grade (about 150 to 200 words, average Flesch-Kincaid level 3.1), every question can be proved from the text, and the answer key has a color-coded model answer for all 60 questions. One passage serves the whole class, and each child writes at their own level.
