STEM challenges are activities in which students solve real world challenges that involve science, technology, engineering, or math. The activities use website applications so students can solve problems with creative and critical thinking. Students should always be able to share their final products with the class, which lets them hear the ideas other students had.

There are at least 16 challenges for each month, and some months have bonus challenges. Two versions are included for each digital application each month. One gives students a menu board of project choices with a digital journal report on a separate slide. The other has a slide for each project with the digital journal attached, for when the whole class works on the same project. Each application is described in the file, and the applications have their own tutorials, so part of the challenge is letting students explore and discover how to use them. The journal pages can also be printed for students to complete on paper.
