Students see bright pictures as they learn about living and non-living things and how to tell which is which, with helpful hints. An interactive quiz gives immediate feedback on every answer, and students can click a button for hints. Group activities then ask them to apply what they learned and to analyze other things. In the last activity, students use technology to create a presentation about a habitat they design with both living and non-living things, then evaluate the habitats made by other groups.

The lesson works through the six levels of Bloom's taxonomy. Because of the nature of the last two activities, student answers will vary and there is no answer key for that section. The embedded quiz gives immediate feedback, and a very simple example is provided for the habitat. It can also be used in a science center as a computer activity for students to do on their own, since the presentation provides hints and then the correct answers.
