Description
Your students spin a 1 to 6 spinner (or roll a die), solve the next problem in that column, and cheer as the maple leaf, acorn, pumpkin, and their friends race to the bottom of the page. The first column to finish wins 1st place, and kids color the winners. Second graders start with the skip counting pages (2s, 5s and 10s), then Multiply by 2, 5 and 10. Multiply by 1 to 10 are the core third grade facts, and 11 and 12 are a challenge for third grade and quick review for fourth and fifth.
Every fact gets its own page. Multiply by 3 (3 × 0 to 3 × 12) practices just that fact, and right after it a mixed page (Multiply by 1 to 3) reviews it with every fact before it. You hand each child the page for the fact they are learning, so one game works for your whole class. Self-check strips, 1-minute fluency checks, and trackers show you who is ready to move on, and there is no prep.
What's included:
- 3 "Start here" race pages (Skip Count by 2s, Skip Count by 5s, Skip Count by 10s) with a skip counting number line on the page, each with its answer key
- 23 game pages (Multiply by 1 to Multiply by 12 plus 11 mixed review pages), 42 problems each, with characters to color
- An answer key right after every game page
- Every game page in color too: 26 color race pages for laminating and centers
- Self-check strips for every game: kids fold the strip under, then lay it next to the column to check their answers
- 12 one-minute fluency checks, one for every fact, with answer keys
- 6 multiplication strategy cards: skip count, equal groups and arrays, turn around, zeros and ones, double it, use a fact you know
- A picture How to Play page, plus race rules and ways to play (solo, partners, whole class, or with a die)
- 2 spinners to print on card stock, with paper clip directions (no brads needed) and a dice option
- A family letter and a take-home "Spin and Solve at Home" page with its own paper clip spinner
- A student tracker (color a leaf for every page finished) and a class fact record
- A "Who Won?" tally and bar graph page
- A 2-page teacher guide with a page-by-page grade fit chart, prep tips, and a sample week
- A Common Core standards page
Perfect for: Math centers and stations all fall, from back to school through November; Early finishers and morning work; Intervention and small groups, with every child on their own page; Partner games and whole-class review on the board; Homework with the family letter and take-home spinner page
